What are the continuing education requirements for a Washington real estate license?
Brokers 1st renewal: 90 hours of post-licensing education including:
- 30-hour Advanced Practices Course
- 30-hour Real Estate Law Course
- 3-hour Core Course
- 27-hours of Electives
Subsequent renewals: 30 hours of CE including:
- 3-hour Core Course
- 27-hours of Electives
How long can my Washington real estate license remain inactive?
You may remain inactive as long as you’d like but you’ll need to renew your license every two years.
Do I need continuing education in Washington if my license is inactive?
You do not need education at the time of renewal, however, you may owe continuing education when you reactive, depending on how long you’ve been inactive.

Washington does not offer reciprocity with any other states.
Who Submits Completed Continued Education?
Washington state does not require CE to be submitted to the state unless the License holder is audited. In the case of an audit, the license holder will submit their certificate.
